VMware

 General description

VMware is the current market leader in server virtualization. Flagship product vSphere provides the infrastructure and management solutions for large enterprise level virtual environments. A "bare metal" embedded hypervisor, VMware ESX's enterprise software hypervisors run directly on server hardware without requiring an additional underlying operating system. This sample solution design achieves this objective by VMware vCloud Suite, a private cloud infrastructure solution based on VMware vSphere, the industry leading virtualization platform. The VMware vCloud Suite allows IT to achieve cloud service provider economics in the data center, provision applications in minutes instead of weeks, and deliver the right availability and security for each application with policy-based governance. VMware vCloud Suite is a suite of software products designed to enable you to build and run a vSphere based private cloud that delivers cloud service provider economies at scale, application provisioning in minutes, and automated operations management.
VMware vCloud Suite
VMware vCloud Suite is comprised of the following integrated components:
  1. VMware vSphere – Compute virtualization platform with policy-based automation.
  2. VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager – Automated disaster recovery planning, testing and execution.
  3. VMware vCloud Networking and Security – Networking and security with ecosystem integration for a virtualized compute environment.
  4. VMware vCloud Automation Center – is an innovative self-service provisioning and lifecycle management solution that simplifies and automates deployments of infrastructure, multi-tier applications, desktop and virtually any kind of IT service. It provides a secure portal where authorized administrators, developers or business users can request new IT services as well as manage specific cloud and IT resources based on their roles and privileges.
  5. VMware vCenter Operations Manager Suite – Integrated, proactive performance, capacity and configuration management for dynamic cloud environments.
  6. VMware vCloud Director – Virtualized data centers with multi-tenancy and public cloud extensibility.
