  • Define the purpose of the playback in advance
  • Tell, show, and tell
    • Tell your audience what you plan on covering during the playback, show them the functionality covered in the playback, and then tell them what you showed (recap the playback)
  • Have a defined “leader” of the playback, preferably the process owner
    • Make sure that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and the playback lead knows his / her responsibilities
  • Roles and handoffs should be clearly defined within the playback
  • Set expectations for the playback ahead of time
  • Know your audience
  • Categorize and prioritize the feedback
  • Screenshots set the stage
  • Plan the follow up
  • Multiple playbacks are okay
  • Have a list of the open items
